My name is Tanya Harris and for about three decades I have loved cooking. Of course I didn’t start out being good at it, because no one magically starts off with cooking skills! But I have poured over countless books, received some guidance from my family, along with what seemed like endless trial and error processes to identify the keys to success in the kitchen. I am so very excited to share my love of food and all my cooking secrets with you!
We all know eating well is important for our health and longevity, as well as the health and longevity of our kids, who will influence their kids. Unfortunately with our tight schedules and food industries focused on quantity, not quality, it’s harder than ever to eat healthy food. And don’t even get me started on how expensive food is right now! But with a little foundational knowledge, healthy AND delicious food can be made right in our own homes and that is what inspired me to make this blog.
What You’ll Get from Grateful Food Life
Cooking and eating nutritious food in your home is a gift to yourself and your family. Learning to cook both absolutely delicious and healthy food at home is a skill that can be learned. This precious knowledge that was once passed down through the family is now reserved for chefs, but I’d like to help change it back. I was inspired to start this blog because I genuinely want to empower parents to learn the few key skills that guarantees a delicious meal on the table along easy ways to crank up the health factor and how to get kids to actually eat it! Learning fundamental cooking skills is much easier than most of us think and unlocks all sorts of new dishes and cuisines that previous may have seemed daunting.

I personally learned the hard way, making a ton of cooking mistakes and tweaking recipes until I found out the small but impactful skills that allow me to make any dish and know it will turn out well. I don’t expect everyone to have the patience to figure this out on their own and that is where my blog aims to teach key skills through the success factors in each recipe.
Sharing food is sharing love, health and abundance. It is such a gift when we share a home cooked meal with friends and family, and maybe even pass along the recipe. And of course it is a priceless and beautiful thing when our children continue the food traditions we were able to create within our homes. It would be an honor for me to help guide you to create a tradition or two in your family!
